A typical day on a Galapagos Island cruise would involve two shore excursions to different islands; one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Rising early, around 7am or 8am, allows you to have your buffet breakfast before your first excursion which generally begins around 9am.
A small dingy (panga) will take you from your boat to your landing site. This will be either a wet or a dry landing, which you will be briefed about beforehand so that you can dress appropriately. An English-speaking naturalist guide will accompany you in exploring the area in a small group (no more than 16 people).
You will return to the boat sometime later in the morning, where there may be a snorkelling opportunity before lunch. Lunch is generally a buffet, followed by a siesta period in the heat of the day while you sail to your next destination. You will then have your afternoon excursion to see a different part of the Galapagos Islands with its own unique wildlife.
Returning to the boat in the early evening, you will usually have time to relax over a drink before dinner. After dinner, you will be briefed on the following day's activities. There may be a lecture or social event organised in the evening, for those with the stamina to withstand the effects of an early start, sea air, sunshine and excellent food!
