The coastline of the Galapagos Islands varies between sandy beaches and rocky shore, which means you have to perform either a dry or wet landing in order to access visitor sites.
Dry landings are very straightforward. Using either a pier or a flat rocky surface, you will dock properly and disembark on dry land.
Wet landings are when you will use a beach to access a site. This simply entails removing shoes and socks and proceeding to the front of the boat to swing your legs out and into the water, which will be no higher than knee level. Once on shore, you then dry your feet and put your shoes back on.
