There are no absolute rules in this equatorial climate - it is mostly warm, except in the highlands, and divided into wet and dry periods which vary by area. The weather is spring-like most of the year in Quito and the central highlands. The highlandsê dry season (the best time for hiking and climbing) is June to September. The Amazon region is wet and hot all year round, but especially from June to September.
